LYNDA LA PLANTE CBE
Carl Davis is a composer of international renown whose many works for television and film include That Was The Week That Was; the BBC's Pride and Prejudice, The Cranford's series 1 and 2, The Snow Goose, The World At War, Hollywood, Cold War, The Far Pavilions, The Naked Civil Servant and Good Night Mr Tom. His feature film scores include The French Lieutenant's Woman, Champions, Scandal, Ken Russell's The Rainbow, Widow's Peak, Mike Leigh's Topsy Turvy, The Understudy and The Book of Eve.
He has composed a unique series of scores for restored prints of ‘The Silents’ featuring Abel Gance's epic film Napoleon which sits in his
repertoire alongside Chaplin’s "Mutuals" – 12 short films which are
considered to be amongst Davis’ best work.
Davis is also known for his many ballet compositions for dance including A Simple Man; A Christmas Carol NBT; The Picture of Dorian Gray for Sadler’s Wells and Alice in Wonderland for the ENB.
Awards include an Honorary Fellowship from Liverpool John Moores University; a BAFTA Special Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Film and Television and in 2005 he was awarded the CBE (Hon) for the significant contribution he has made to the world of music as both Composer and Conductor.

scholarship to Liverpool’s John Moores University and is an honorary member of the British Film Institute. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has also awarded Lynda with the Dennis Potter Writers Award.
Lynda was awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2008.
